Songs are all about numbers. They’re about the number of times you repeat the hooks, the number of lyrics you have and the number of beats you have per line. For mainstream artists, songs are also about the number of weeks it takes to get to #1 on the Billboard charts. Since I like different types of songs, and since I’m half Asian (and stereotypically like math and numbers), I decided to compile a list of awesome songs with numbers in their title.

ONE

1. Coolio – “1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin’ New)”
Coolio, best known for his 1995 hit “Gangsta’s Paradise” (as well as his crazy cornrows/dreads) dropped this catchy numerical rap a year later.

2. Barenaked Ladies – “One Week”
This song came out the summer before I went to college. I don’t think anyone could recite every single lyric, but it was fun trying to, especially after drinking beer.

3. Phil Collins – “One More Night”
Phil Collins sure knew how to woo the ladies. He also knew how to write about heartbreak, like in this song. Did you know that the American Red Cross used this song in the early 1990s in a public service announcement about emergency shelters?

TWO

4. Blur – “Song 2”
English alt-rockers Blur premiered this song in 1997. It became their biggest hit in the U.S. It’s most profound lyric: WOOHOO!

5. Elliott Smith – “Waltz #2”
Elliott Smith died too young, too soon. He was a talented singer-songwriter whose battle with depression and addiction often reflected in his songs. This is from his album XO.

This was the JAM in 1998! It is ranked #18 in VH1’s list of One-Hit Wonders of the 80s.

THREE

7. Arcade Fire – “Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)”
Arcade Fire is an indie rock band from Canada. Their albums have appeared on many top ten lists. This song is from their album Funeral.

8. Bob Marley – “Three Little Birds”
If you don’t like Bob Marley & The Wailers, or this song, then I don’t like you. That is all.

9. Kenny Rogers – “Three Times a Lady”
I told you, I like ALL types of music. Although this was originally recorded by funk band the Commodores. This cover by Kenny Rogers is a 1980 classic.

FOUR

10. Aphex Twin – “4”
Awesome song from Irish electronic musician Aphex Twin (also known as Richard David James).

11. Download cuphead mega free. Cake – “Friend is a Four Letter Word”
This is off my favorite Cake album, Fashion Nugget.

12. The Clash – “Four Horsemen”
A song from an awesome punk album, London Calling.

13. Beck – “High 5”
How could I not include a song that mentions the title of my blog?
